An outpatient rehabilitation program to restore balance and independence

This program is particularly recommended for frail, at-risk or elderly people with balance problems, risk of falling or fear of falling.
The program is customized and includes :
- Balance and gait rehabilitation
- Adapted muscle strengthening
- Group or individual activities
- Balneotherapy as indicated
- Therapeutic education workshops: preventing chites
- Psychological/dietary support as needed
To refer a patient, simply send a medical letter or complete our admission request form. Upon receipt, the patient will be contacted and informed of the date for their assessment.
For which patients?
This program is particularly suitable for :
- Risk of falling or history of falls
- Instability or difficulty walking
- Fear of falling
- Loss of confidence in movement
In-depth initial assessment
Before starting, each patient receives a complete check-up:
- Medical, social and functional assessment (including geriatric assessment if relevant)
- Balance and mobility tests (Timed Up & Go, Berg, etc.)
- Assessment of living environment
- Self-evaluation of quality of life and feelings related to fear of falling
- Analysis of polymedication
- Identifying risk factors
A personalized, coordinated program
The program lasts 12 weeks and combines several approaches adapted to the needs of each patient:
- Balance and gait rehabilitation
- Specific muscle strengthening
- Group or individual activities
- Balneotherapy (according to medical indication)
- Therapeutic education workshops to prevent falls
- Psychological and/or dietary support if necessary
How it works in practice
Location: on-site, daytime, at CARE Charmilles (Rue de Lyon 77, 1203 Geneva)
Duration: 12 weeks
Frequency: 1 to 3 sessions per week
Supervision: an interdisciplinary team (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, doctors, nurses, psychologists, etc.).
