Pre-delivery physical therapy

During pregnancy, the body undergoes anatomical and hormonal changes that can cause discomfort.

Appropriate care not only relieves these symptoms, but also prepares the body for childbirth andoptimizes postnatal rehabilitation.

What is physical therapy during pregnancy?

This is a specialty of physical therapy that focuses on the prenatal period. It concentrates on the perineum, abdominal muscles, posture, and breathing.

This therapy helps prevent certain disorders such as urinary incontinence, abdominal diastasis, lower back pain, and pelvic heaviness.

In addition, therapeutic exercise during pregnancy can limit the onset of certain conditions such as gestational diabetes orhigh blood pressure.

How does physical therapy work during pregnancy?

Support is personalized and tailored to each stage:

1. Initial assessment: interview and examination to identify specific needs and define treatment objectives.
2. Treatment plan: individual sessions with targeted exercises, manual techniques, and other specific advice.
3. Follow-up: gradual adaptation of treatment according to the progress of the pregnancy.

We work according to the recommendations of the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP), ensuring a safe approach based on scientific evidence and focused on the well-being of mother and baby.

Therapeutic exercise supervised by a specialized professional has demonstrated benefits for both mother and baby and is recommended by leading international clinical guidelines.

What equipment is used in physical therapy during pregnancy?

The materials may vary depending on the patient's needs, but we mainly use: small equipment and teaching aids for therapeutic education.
