Antoine, physiotherapist specialized in maxillofacial rehabilitation

My background and specialization

I work as a physical therapist specializing in maxillofacial rehabilitation at Maisonneuve CARE Charmilles in Geneva, where I treat patients with jaw disorders, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, facial paralysis, and functional tongue disorders.
I earned my state-certified degree in physical therapy in 2008 from the IFMK Danhier in Paris. I began my career practicing a wide range of treatments before specializing in maxillofacial physical therapy, a field that particularly interested me because of the diversity of conditions it addresses and its practical applications in patients’ daily lives.
To further develop my skills, I earned a University Diploma in maxillofacial rehabilitation from the University of Montpellier in 2012, and then completed several advanced training courses through ONREK in 2014 and 2015.
I then developed specialized expertise in the rehabilitation of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders through training in manual therapy at the ITMP in 2017. This specialization allows me, in particular, to treat patients suffering from jaw pain, limited mouth opening, joint clicking, or functional difficulties while chewing.
My professional background has also been enriched by training courses focused on tongue dyspraxia in 2019 and on the rehabilitation of facial paralysis in 2020. These skills complement my approach to treating orofacial disorders, particularly when they affect tongue movement, facial mobility, or certain daily functions.
After several years of private practice in Haute-Savoie, notably at my own practice in Pringy, I joined Maisonneuve CARE Charmilles in Geneva in 2023. My work also involves collaborating with healthcare professionals in the maxillofacial field, including surgeons, ENT specialists, stomatologists, and orthodontists.
I also participate in professional and scientific conferences, including the Face(s) Cou conferences in 2025 and 2026, in order to continue expanding my knowledge in this specialized field.

What characterizes my care

My practice of maxillofacial physical therapy at Les Charmilles is based on a precise, individualized approach focused on the functional issues each patient experiences.
I place particular emphasis on assessing symptoms and understanding their impact on daily life. As part of my work in maxillofacial rehabilitation in Geneva, I treat patients with jaw pain, difficulty opening their mouths, chewing difficulties, or limited facial movement—conditions that can significantly affect their comfort and quality of life.
As part of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) rehabilitation, I combine—as needed—manual therapy techniques, specific exercises, and personalized advice to improve jaw mobility and help reduce pain.
I also treat patients with facial paralysis or difficulties with tongue movement and positioning, tailoring rehabilitation exercises to the specific functional challenges identified and the progression of each case.
My experience and interactions with maxillofacial surgeons also enable me to integrate rehabilitation into a coordinated care plan, particularly when a patient requires support in connection with a surgical procedure.
Finally, I prioritize a therapeutic relationship based on active listening, education, and the patient’s active participation. My goal is to provide targeted care, tailored to each individual’s situation, in order to improve orofacial function, reduce discomfort, and facilitate a return to daily activities.
