My background and specializations
After earning my degree in physical therapy in 2001, I initially focused my practice on holistic manual therapy. Over the course of my career, I have specialized in maxillofacial rehabilitation, a field that now plays a central role in my practice.
Maxillofacial maxillofacial physical therapy is used to treat a wide range of disorders and dysfunctions of the orofacial region. In particular, I work with patients who have temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, jaw pain or dysfunction, as well as certain types of headaches and tinnitus when these may be associated with orofacial dysfunctions.
My practice also includes rehabilitation following facial trauma—particularly as a result of an accident—as well as providing care for patients after certain orthodontic or maxillofacial surgeries.
I also treat patients with ENT cancers, particularly cancers of the tongue and throat. Physical therapy can help address certain side effects of treatment, such as limited mobility, scarring, tissue adhesions, or skin and tissue changes caused by radiation therapy.
What characterizes my care
My practice of maxillofacial rehabilitation is based on an approach that is precise, comprehensive, and tailored to each individual. Beyond manual techniques, I focus on understanding the interactions between the various structures of the orofacial region, the symptoms experienced by the patient, and their functional impact on the patient’s daily life.
The wide variety of cases I encounter in maxillofacial physical therapy allows me to tailor treatment to each patient’s specific needs, with the goal of improving mobility, function, and comfort in daily life.
