What is a doctor specializing in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system?
Our FMH specialist in orthopedic surgery and traumatology of the motor system treats pathologies of the upper and lower limbs and spine.
Our multidisciplinary center enables our orthopedic physician to work with our physiotherapists, if necessary, to draw up a rehabilitation plan tailored to the patient's needs. It also enables patients to have their medical visits and physiotherapy sessions in the same place.
Why consult a doctor specializing in orthopedics and traumatology of the motor apparatus?
Consulting a doctor specializing in orthopedics and traumatology of the motor apparatus is essential to effectively diagnose and treat pathologies or injuries of the motor apparatus. These may be traumatic in origin (following an accident) or related to chronic illness. Common pathologies for which you may need to consult such a specialist include the following:
1. Traumatic injuries :
If you've had an accident resulting in a fracture, sprain, dislocation or other musculoskeletal injury, our orthopedic doctor can diagnose and treat these injuries, reduce fractures or stabilize displaced joints.
2. Chronic pain or degenerative disorders :
Pain associated with conditions such asosteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease or spinal column disease can be managed by an orthopedist. If conservative treatments (medication, physiotherapy) are not sufficient, the doctor may suggest surgical options, such as replacing a joint with a prosthesis (e.g. hip or knee).
3. Deformities or malformations :
Congenital malformations, such as scoliosis or clubfoot, may require surgical correction.
4. Rehabilitation and recovery :
After surgery or injury, an orthopedist provides follow-up care to maximize recovery. If necessary, our orthopedic physician can work with our physiotherapists to establish a rehabilitation plan tailored to the patient's needs.
5. Sports injuries :
Sportsmen and women often consult specialists in orthopedics and traumatology for sports-related injuries such as ligament ruptures, tendonitis or muscle tears. Our doctor can suggest non-surgical solutions (re-education, infiltrations) or surgical ones to help with recovery and return to sport.
